Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has questioned the state government’s idea of starting a virtual university.
The state government has planned to set up Karnataka Virtual University to harness internet and mobile based technologies to reach higher education to masses is facing resistance.
KSOU made known public its reservation about the proposed varsity arguing that it will duplicate what it (KSOU) is doing.
KSOU Vice Chancellor, M G Krishnan has requested the CM Siddaramaiah and higher education minister R V Deshpande to drop the idea.
The VC said the government should instead strengthen the KSOU and support its mission to emerge as a leading virtual university in the nation.
"I'll write to the higher education minister asking him to drop the plan to set up the Karnataka Virtual University as it will duplicate what we are doing," Krishnan said, reported Times of India.
